UI overhaul, Manga, and vocabulary upgrades
Vocabulary extraction
- Better handling for dialectal, archaic, variant, and longer chain-heavy forms, with around 32% fewer measured errors.
- GPU and CPU extraction produce identical results, with the GPU taking around 92% less time on the same workload.
Manga
- Improved punctuation and smaller recognition details, bringing mistakes down from 312 to 0 across 100 complex Berserk pages.
- Reduced the same Manga workload by around 83% while keeping the same perfect result.
Interface
- Complete UI and design overhaul across Home, Results, Archive, and Settings, with clearer source rows, metadata, text, icons, spacing, readable long file names, and better desktop window flexibility.
- Recent history and Archive now stay in sync, Archive entries reopen in the full Result screen, and Result cards show every definition in the overview.
Settings presets and customization
- Added named, colored Settings presets that you can create, select, update, or build from your current Settings.
- Added a full color picker for presets, pitch accents, and target-word highlighting.
- Apply, discard, and preset actions now appear only for real changes, with a confirmation prompt before leaving Settings with unsaved work.
More card control
- Added separate context and target-word furigana controls for the front, back, both, or neither.
- Added optional target-word highlighting with a custom color, plus English-definition visibility and a 1-10 meaning limit.
Settings workflow and safety
- Reorganized Settings so related controls are together, important actions are easier to find, and dropdowns, language suggestions, color pickers, and confirmation popups behave properly.
- Folder pickers now reopen in the folder already chosen for that setting. The main Home processing picker is the only one that keeps the last folder you used.
- Tightened update and installer behavior to better protect saved Jiwami data.
General improvements
- More smaller refinements and cleanup across Jiwami.
Archive and result screen improvements
- Long source names no longer clip. They fade at the edge and scroll on hover.
- Archive entries now reopen in the full result screen without leaving Archive.
- Results show every extracted word in a normal full-page scroll.
- Archive results keep their English definitions when reopened.
Pitch accent: bigger, more detailed custom dataset
- New custom pitch dataset: 495,732 Surfaces, 512,835 Branches, 570,409 Accents.
- Pitch selection now uses more detail, including surface, multiple readings, and POS.
- Homophones and nearby forms stay distinct. Ambiguous matches are rejected instead of wrongly choosing another word's pitch.
- If no pitch entry exists, Jiwami shows the reading only. No invented pitch pattern or fallback.
Jiwami launches
The first version of Jiwami is now available.
